RE: Another newB Question: Specail Toilet Paper?

We have always used the Thetford Campa-Chem tissue and the same brand for the pre-measured packets of RV holding tank deodorant from Wal-Mart. Never a problem, except one time in really hot weather we did have to put 2 packets in the toilet as the heat sometimes start things cooking. Just make sure you put a couple gallons of water in toilet after emptying and then put in the chemical. Also use a lot of water when flushing. We have a permanent site so are hooked up to the sewer so emptying is no problem. We try not to use any more paper than what is necessary, which I think helps keeps things flowing also. A little common sense goes a long way.

RE: pink mold

Try "Comet Spray Gel - Mildew Stain Remover." You don't need to use much, it is amazing. We had specks of mildew under the awning and they disappeared within seconds. Then make sure you rinse with water and let dry.

RE: Equipping our new TT

I try to keep it light and use good paper plates most of the time, but do have a 4 piece set of corelle ware we usually use for suppers. Also only use the tp from Walmart and for the bath I got some of the smaller light weight towels so they dry fast. We use our shower every day and use that gray water to flush our the black tank after we empty it. Occasionally husband gleans the black tank really good with hose and magic wand we bought. Mostly though remember to use lots of water when flushing and things will not get hard. I also have some Rubbermaid bowls and use alot of ziplok bags for storage. Mostly try to keep clothes to at least a week or 10 day supply and have extra set of sheets and cases for our bed and extra set for sofa bed and a couple extra lightweight blankets. I also have an electric frypan and a crock pot and of course a small coffee pot. If you prefer cooking on grill most of time you may not need all these. I do alot of cooking inside and with the microwave and of course, eat out quite often. I use the over the door towel hander I got at Camping World for the bath towels and there are some hooks in our bedroom, but I try to keep things put away in the cabinets and drawers. Also bought a lite weight Eureka Ultralightvacuum with a collapsible handle. Can always store it below in the bed storage. Mostly try to keep it simple and light weight. Enjoy your trailer.

RE: Pnderosa RV Park - Arizona

It's actually the Ponderosa RV Resort at 1666 Ponderosa Lane, Lakeside, AZ. They have a web page, but doesn't show any pictures of the sites although it looks nice and has lot models and cabins plus a nice clubhouse, full hookups, etc. Just thought maybe somebody had been there. Can't find any reviews on it except for 3 testimonials on their website. Thanks though for your responses. Barb

Pnderosa RV Park - Arizona

Has anybody stayed at the Ponderosa RV Park in the Pinetop/Lakeside area of Northern Arizona? What did you think of it? How are the sites; is it clean; well-run; things to do? We are thinking of spending next summer there since we live in Tucson and it would be convenient for us to come and go. We are going to check it out on way back from Wiscsonsin. Thanks...

Ponderosa RV Park - Pinetop, AZ

Has anybody stayed at this RV park in Northern Arizona? Just wondering what your opinion of it is. Are the lots nice size; do they have pull-throughs; cleanliness; well-run? We live in Tucson and are thinking of spending the summer up there next year. We were going to check it out on our way back from Wisconsin at end of the month. Thanks for any comments.

RE: Keystone TT's....any good?

We are on our 3rd year in our Keystone Sprinter 300 FKBS and have had no problems. I love it and probably would get another one if we ever need to. For the price range we wanted to be in, it is good quality and easy to take care of. Also have a great dealer near that if we do have questions or need something (like the recent Dometic Frig. repair) they came right out and fixed it. I am not familiar with the Outback but do see quite a few of them at the resort we are in right now. We have friends who have a quarter million Alegro class A and have had nothing but problems with it. So what you pay for it, has not bearing on problems. Just find a good dealer.

RE: question about camping...What do you think???

We usually make the path an obstacle course and if they still don't take the hint, I ask them nicely to please not cut through our space. Most campgounds have it in their camp rules to respect other peoples spaces and use the paths. Even if you are only there for a short time, it is your space. Nobody needs to be a doormat unless they want to.

RE: ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS - NEW DOMETIC RECALL

We had ours fixed last week. Did not have to take trailer into the dealer as we saw one of the repairmen in our park. He did charge us $45 service call, but to us it was worth it for the convenience of not having to haul it into the dealer. He did say though that since we only use our refrigerator on the electric (and not the propane) we didn't really have anything to worry about; it is only a problem if you run it on propane.

RE: Traveling with the Dog

I would not put dog in trailer....I would think the backseat is big enough for both the baby and the dog. Any other stuff you put in the back seat could be put in a covered container and put in the bed of the truck. Or else put the dog in a dog kennel or see if somebody can watch him while you are gone. We take a long trip every year and my husband bought a couple large rubbermaid type containers and that's where we put our bags and stuff so they don't get wet in the event of rain. Good luck.

RE: Most agressive breed of dogs

We have a mini-long haired dachshund and although she is yappy when first meeting somebody new, I ask them to just stand still and let her smell their shoes and I tell her to be quiet and she does. She has never bitten anybody, but when we have her out, alot of people think she is cute and will immediately bend over and get in her face and she sees that as a form of aggression and will bark quite sharply. If they just wait a second until I tell her everything is fine and not make a fast move toward her, she is their friend. Some people think little dogs are just animated stuff animals and they don't wait until she can check them out. She is great with our family and when people come over, after a couple minutes she just lays down and ignores them. You have to respect each breed and their idiosyncrasies.....I do whether its a 2 pound yorkshire or a great dane.

RE: Floorplan livibility?

That's a nice litle trailer and if it fits your needs and requirements; go for it. A small T.V. could be mounted above the night stand. I kind of liked the model #2104 also. If you aren't going to live in it and just use for camping/recreation, it should be workable even with dogs (unless they are really big ones!!) Looks like fun to me!

RE: Decorating your TT how much is too much?

We have a seasonal spot in northern Wisconsin so we have a nice carpeted patio, some great trees, a lake view and have a wooden birdhouse on a stand with a Loon motif and our handmade sign with our names on it which we lite up at night and I buy lots of pots of flowers to border the patio with and a couple hanging planters. Will try to post a pic, later. Inside I have a couple Loon plates and decorations in the house, but mostly I don't like clutter so I keep it kind of simple. Just enough to keep my "nesting syndrome" happy.

RE: Let My Neighbor Borrow/Rent My TT?

I would be hesitant to let somebody borrow something that is worth $1000s of dollars. As stated previously I would check with your insurance company to see if they would even cover it. This could open up a whole new can of worms and ruin your friendship if something does happen and it is not covered or he refuses to pay for it. And if you "rent" it to him, that also may affect your insurance. I would be leary about doing it.

RE: Your thoughts on installing a hitch on the back of your TT?

Why not check with your state's dept of transportation to see if you can pull a travel trailer and a boat trailer and/or if there are restrictions to length, etc. I thought this question came up before and it was pretty much against the law.

RE: New to RVing

That was a gret response from Crickeydog and I'm sure everything will work out okay. If you go up to northern Wisc. check out the Hiawatha Trailer Resort in Minocqua/Woodruff.....great family RV park on Arrowhead Lake and always lots of activities in that area for everybody. Great bike trails also. We will be up there beginning of June for the summer. Good luck and fun on your first trip.

RE: who has a seasonal site?

We also have a seasonal site in Minocqua/Woodruff area in northern Wisconsin. Found it on-line, had our son check it out 4 years ago and at that time he had a Jayco trailer he wasn't going to use anymore and we stayed in it that first summer to see if we would like "camping." We loved it and loved the park (Hiawatha Trailer resort) and the next year we went and bought a new larger trailer (Keystone 300FKMS) and in a couple weeks we will be going up again for the summer. We were planning on bringing it back to Tucson this year, but we may leave it there another year. We have a nice big site, tall trees, big patio and right on a small lake and about a 5 minute drive to Minocqua. We also get to see our son and some grandchildren each summer. Our other kids, grandkids live in Tucson. Regarding the site though, there are alot of other people who are permanents and it's always fun getting reacquainted with them each year. The park is very well taken care of, they upgraded the laundry room and put in new bath/showers this year. Have wi-fi and just enough activities to make it very nice. Plus they enforce the camp rules re: noice, speed limit and keeping the swimming area clean. Great little place.

RE: Clothes Rack Mod???

Thank you Renee....I did not know what it was either. ????? But if it works, that's good. I do like it when people post pictures of their modification as I am always looking for ideas for the tt to make it either more comfortable or more efficient. My main concern is a safer, more sturdy door lock as occasionally I am in trailer alone if hubby goes somewhere overnite. Course I do have a mini-dachshund who would bark up a storm, but I would like a safety chain or something. Guess I need to check out a hardware store or something. This year I want to organize the stuff under the bed better. Can hardly wait.
